Visiting us in Manchester
Location
The Facility is located in the Photon Science Institute in the Alan Turing Building.
Operating hours
Access to the laboratory is strictly controlled. If you are visiting, you will be provided with a named contact who will meet you outside the building and take you into the laboratory.

Toilet
There is an accessible toilet located directly outside the laboratory.

- Premier Inn Princess Street - The hotel is within easy walking distance of the University.
- Luther King House - The venue is further afield, with regular buses towards the University.

There are numerous restaurants and cafes on site within The University of Manchester. Local to the NRF Facility are:

Travel and transport access
Trains
The Alan Turing Building is situated close to both Manchester Piccadilly railway station (about two and a half hours from London) and Oxford Road train station, with Victoria train station a little further away. The nearest stops are:

- Manchester Piccadilly railway station / Metrolink stop, 0.8 miles
Trams
Manchester has a tram network, called Metrolink. All Metrolink trams and tram stops are accessible for wheelchair users. Mobility scooter users must have a mobility scooter permit to take their scooter on a tram.
Metrolink has stops at Piccadilly and Victoria train stations, and also the airport. The nearest Metrolink stop to the University is:

Accessible taxis

Arrival by air
Manchester airport is one of the largest airports in the UK. It is approximately 10 miles south of the city centre. The airport is connected to the city centre by train and tram (see above). A taxi to the University will cost approximately £20-30.
Arrival by car
See above for post-code for SatNav directions. There is no dedicated parking, but the Aquatics Centre Car Park and Booth Street West multi-storey car park offer paid public parking.
Car parking
There are five car parks surrounding The University of Manchester campus with a mixture of permit and public parking. See information about parking on campus.
The nearest car park is UoM Car Park D, Booth Street West. The postcode for this car park is M15 6FH and its access is via Higher Cambridge Street.
Accessible parking spots are also available on Bridgeford Street, which runs alongside the Museum. To access one of these spots, there is a barrier next to UoM Car Park D, Booth Street West (access via Higher Cambridge Street). At the intercom, tell the attendant that you are using Manchester Museum accessible parking and turn left past the barrier.

Cycling
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) provides a vast amount of information on cycling which can be found on the TfGM cycling website.
They also provide free PDF maps for the city and an excellent online interactive map to help you plan your journey.
Cycle parking
Sheffield hoop stands are provided across campus to which bicycles may be secured. The Photon Science Institute has a number of Sheffield stands outside the main entrance. We recommend always using a good quality D-lock to secure your bike.
Under no circumstances should any bicycle/motorcycle obstruct walkways, disabled access points or emergency exits.
All cycles are parked at the owner’s risk. All property is left at the owner's risk. The University will not accept liability for any losses or thefts.
