Academic entry qualification overview:

You will need a UK 2.2 Honours degree in the following backgrounds; Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, Composite Materials and Engineering, Biofunctional Materials, Metallurgy and Macromolecular Materials and Engineering. We can consider Biomaterials, Material Physics and other backgrounds on a case by case basis. For more information please contact cor.admin@manchester.ac.uk .

English language:

If English is not your first language, you will need to take and meet minimum requirements for the following recognised English language qualifications:  IELTS (6.5 with no sub-test under 5.5); TOEFL (Internet based): speaking - 20, reading - 20, writing - 20, listening - 20, overall - 90). Please contact us if you have an alternative qualification and we will make an individual assessment.

English language test validity:

Some English language test results are only valid for two years. Your English language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

Normally students will need a UKVI IELTS to gain entry on to a Pre-sessional English course. If you wish to apply for a Pre-sessional course and you do not have a UKVI IELTS, please contact the School of Materials for further information at pg-materials@manchester.ac.uk.

Professional entry qualification: A combination of educational and professional qualifications and industrial experience may also be approved for admission onto the programme. There is no specific entry requirement for registration for single units.
