Professor Douglas Kell: Society of Biology's Changing the World
In March, at the invitation of the Society of Biology, Douglas Kell unveiled a blue plaque and gave a speech commemorating the importance and legacy of the work of JBS Haldane, biochemist and geneticist.
The ceremony was held at Dragon School in Oxford where Haldane studied as a child. The unveiling was part of the Society of Biology's Changing the World project that aims to celebrate both the past ‘unsung heroes’ of biology and those who have made a great contribution to the world and also to inspire biologists of the future.
Amongst those at the ceremony were Sir Walter Bodmer, Sir Roger Bannister, Richard Dawkins, Nicola Blackwood, MP for Oxford West and Abingdon.
