Professor Robert Dryfe of Chemistry, Professor A Forsyth of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Professor I Kinloch of Materials & Dr L Hardwick of Liverpool University were successful with their recent bid to the EPSRC "graphene engineering" call. Their project, is a large (£2.1M) one, which will investigate electrochemical energy storage using graphene-enabled materials. The particular focus will be on lithium ion batteries and supercapacitors, the work is further supported by a large industrial consortium. The research programme will begin in February 2013 and will last for five years.
