Dr. Louise Natrajan and Sean Woodall have just completed their third one month secondment at the NMR facility at INE (Institute for Nuclear Waste disposal), Karlsruhe, Germany where they have been studying the coordination behaviour of a range of O and N-donor ligands by NMR spectroscopy with the high specific activity radionuclides Am-243 and Np-237. The research was funded by the FP7-EURACT-NMR network. They were joined by two members of Clint Sharrad's group (Chemical Engineering, Manchester), Tamara Griffiths and Kate Tucker who were also awarded NMR time at this specialist facility to study speciation of actinides related to liquid-liquid separation processes.
