Times Higher Education Award for School Governor Initiative

The University of Manchester wins Times Higher Education Award for School Governor Initiative

The Times Higher Education Awards ceremony was held in November 2014, and is open to every University in the UK. The community award was presented (for the second year in a row) to the University for its School Governor Initiative (UMSGI). The UMSGI provides opportunities and support for staff across the University, as well as our alumni community, to become Local Authority or Community Governors.

This scheme is one of the of the University’s social responsibility signature programmes. All of which have the overall aim of making a difference to the social and economic well being of our communities and wider society. It encourages staff and alumni to bring their skills in areas such as finance, law and human resources to the role of school governors.

The School of Chemistry has several members of staff who are School governors, and this is an opportunity to congratulate them for all their hard work.
