School of Chemistry delighted to announce the recent award of two ERC Advanced Grants
The School of Chemistry is delighted to announce the recent award of two European Research Council Advanced Grants to Prof Nicholas Turner and Prof Martin Schröder.
ERC Advanced Grants are highly competitive and awarded to Principal Investigators who are exceptional leaders in terms of originality and have a significant track-record of achievement in the last 10 years.
Prof Richard Winpenny says of the awards "European Research Council Advanced grants are extremely prestigious. Few are awarded in any year. In 2017 only four were awarded to Chemistry departments in the UK. Two of those four awards were obtained by the School of Chemistry in Manchester. This is an incredible achievement. The only other Chemistry department in Europe to obtain two awards was ETH Zurich, so we are in excellent company. The awards are a great recognition of the outstanding research performed by Martin Schröder, Nick Turner and their teams."
This brings to four the number of ERC Advanced Grants within the School, with the others awarded to Prof David Leigh FRS and Prof David Leys.
Warm Congratulaitons to both Prof Turner and Prof Schröder.
