Open days and visiting the School

UCAS Visit and Interview Day

All applicants who have a UK correspondence address are automatically invited to attend a visit day. This gives a chance for applicants to see both the School and the university, and to talk to both members of staff and current students. We view the visit day as a two-way process in which you get to judge what student life would be like at Manchester and we can assess your suitability and commitment to the course.

The normal programme of events is given below.

12.30 - 1.00 Buffet lunch with staff, Programme Directors and current students/tour guides.

1.00 - 2.00 Talks/videos about Courses, School, University and Manchester.

2.00 - 3.30 Interviews and tours of School and Campus. Tea/Coffee.

3.30 - 4.10 Demonstration Lecture

During all of these activities there is a chance to ask any questions that you have.

Parents

Parents are welcome to attend the visit day. We recognise that in many cases parents provide a significant financial contribution and all parents are keen to see what Manchester, the University and the School of Chemistry has to offer. Parents are encouraged to stay for the whole afternoon (except the interview) and are provided with lunch and their own special tour of the University (with a postgraduate tour guide) and a 20 minute Q & A session with a member of the admissions staff.
