Nuclear FiRST DTC

Research Degrees

The school offers a three-year PhD and a one-year MPhil (although both can be taken part-time if desired). PhD and MPhil students are linked to one of our research groups where they work on a research topic of their choice.

NOWNANO Doctoral Training Centre

NOWNANO builds on the world-leading expertise in all nanoscience within Manchester and Lancaster universities to offer a broad interdisciplinary doctoral training centre

Nuclear FiRST Doctoral Training Centre

Nuclear FiRST was established in January 2009, with a £6.3M investment from EPSRC, to provide a national training centre for doctoral scientists and engineers in nuclear fission science and technology.

Taught Degrees

These programmes are generally available as an one-year MSc or nine-month Postgraduate Diploma (both available part-time). MSc and PG-Dip students spend two semesters attending taught courses before completing a project.
