Dr Louise Natrajan: awarded three weeks of time at the STFC Lasers For Science Facility at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory

Dr Louise Natrajan been awarded three weeks of time at the STFC Lasers For Science Facility at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory; this is a proposal that Dr Natrajan put in with Prof Jon Lloyd (SEAES) and will fund a 3 week visit to the facility for Dr Natrajan, a PDRA (Adam Swinburne) and a PhD student (Debbie Jones on the Nuclear 1st DTC).

This proposal requests direct access to the FLIM and PLIM set up at the Lasers for Science Facility in order to study the one electron bacterial reduction of uranyl(VI) by Geobacter sulfurreducens to uranyl(V) and subsequent disproportionation to uranium(IV) and uranyl(VI). This application is an initial bid to establish working techniques with actinide ions by the recently established STFC Environmental Radiation Network (Env-Rad-Net).
