The Centre for Chemical Intervention in Biology and Medicine (CCIBM) is a centre of excellence for academics and researchers from across the University of Manchester with an interest in theoretical and practical aspects of chemical research in Biology and Medicine.
The CCIBM is a new centre originating from the School of Chemistry and the Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre (MIB) and is establishing links with researchers from the Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS), the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Sciences (CEAS) and the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences (MHS).
Researchers have a broad field of interests from across the Chemical and Biological Sciences; the main areas of interest are:
- Focused library synthesis using cutting-edge synthetic technology
- Scale-up synthesis using cutting-edge synthetic technology
- Peptide and oligosaccharide synthesis
- Natural product analogues
- Enzymatic routes to libraries
- Ligand design
- Computational studies and molecular modelling
- Biological target selection
Assay technology
- Drug delivery
- Structural biology
- Analysis and purification
Using the University's EPSRC Knowledge Transfer (KT) Fund Fellows will be employed to establish links between researchers within the CCIBM and external partners such as Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical and Biotechnology companies. Our first KT fellow is already established in the School of Chemistry and their role is to establish interaction with industrial partners and the CCIBM via a new mechanism of collaboration read more.......
